Web design: Marxer Gastrochem AG
The collaboration with Marxer Gastrochem AG from Ruggell was a comprehensive and highly practical project. Since 1990, this family-run business has been designing, building and maintaining professional kitchens in Liechtenstein and Eastern Switzerland, with its own workshop, a year-round showroom and a weekend on-call service. The previous website dated from 2015 and showcased only a fraction of what the company offers. With the new website, I have developed a platform that showcases the entire business: four services, 75 products across nine categories, 65 client projects from their own workshop, the team, suppliers and careers. Every page leads to an enquiry, and every enquiry is measurable from day one.
A custom theme, minimalist and fast: I developed a bespoke WordPress theme for Marxer Gastrochem, without a page builder. Flat surfaces, clean lines, no shadows, just like the kitchens the company builds. The result loads quickly, remains easy to maintain and will still look the same in five years’ time as it does today.
Product catalogue with wish list: 75 products across nine categories, each with a manufacturer’s image and technical specifications, and almost all with a data sheet. Anyone interested in a product can add it to their wishlist and, with a single click, be taken straight to a pre-filled enquiry form. Browsing turns into a quote enquiry, with no detours.
65 client projects from the workshop: From mountain inns to the commercial kitchen at the special educational centre, the website showcases what Marxer Gastrochem has built, using its own photos rather than stock images. References you can see for yourself are the strongest selling point for a craft business.
Mobile first, on-call staff always visible: A large proportion of visitors access the site via their mobile phones, often straight from the kitchen. The emergency number is displayed at the very top of every page, the forms can be filled in using a thumb, and the consent banner is integrated into the site’s design rather than covering it up.
Measurable enquiries from day one: Google Analytics counts phone calls, emails, contact enquiries and job applications as individual events. Marxer Gastrochem can see in real time who is visiting the site and what comes of it. Over 300 redirects ensured that no links were lost during the move.
Manage content yourself: In the backend, there is a content page where all the website’s text is stored in one place, organised by page, with a description for each field. The team can update opening hours, the on-call number or product descriptions themselves, without a page builder and without having to ask anyone.
The aim was to create a website that presents the business as it really is: down-to-earth, comprehensive and easy to reach. It should generate enquiries rather than merely provide information, be easy for the team to manage themselves, and demonstrate what it achieves from day one. With a product catalogue, references and a structure that grows with the business, the website is built for the years ahead.
